Staley, a guard with the Charlotte Sting, was nominated for the American Express Small Business Services WNBA Entrepreneurial Award, which
will be presented Sept. 4. The award will be given to two women: a WNBA player who has established a successful small business or foundation and a woman small business owner who embodies the entrepreneural spirit.
Staley is founder of the Dawn Staley Foundation, which provides opportunities for children and young adults to become productive and responsible citizens. The foundation consists of the Dawn Staley After
School Project, a program for girls focusing on academics, sports and community outreach; the Dawn Staley Baseball League and the Dawn Staley "Day in the Park," which celebrates civic pride and promotes family
interaction. Each winner will receive an IBM laptop computer and $10,000 to help further her business venture. Basketball fans will select the winner by casting votes via the Internet at
www.WNBA.com or nominate other entrepreneurs by writing an essay of 50 words or less explaining how a candidate became an entrepreneur. Entries must be submitted through WNBA.com.

Monique D. May MD has joined Nalle Clinic University office as a family practitioner.
May earned a bachelor's degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 1992 and doctor of medicine from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1996. She completed her three-year residency in the
department of family practice at Carolinas Medical Center and was selected outstanding resident of the year in 1999.
- Wanda Coleman and Christina Cobb Joye of Charlotte have received scholarship renewals from the N.C. Bar Association.
The scholarships are given to children of law enforcement officers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. The association awarded $21,000 in scholarships to 20 students, who receive up to $1,000 for the
fall semester and an equal amount in the spring provided their grades are satisfactory.
